A look at Trail Sherpa’s Brand Spotlight
I’ve wanted to offer something more comprehensive than the industry standard gear review for quite some time. I was never exactly sure how to do that but we’ve been experimenting with formats ever since we launched the Hydration Summit for Geigerrig in June 2012.
Yesterday, we launched our first two brand spotlights. Teton Sports recently introduced their Fahrenheit line of sleeping bags and we are spotlighting the Mammoth 20° double sleeping bag which I feel is the gem of the line. Geigerrig also introduced a new product, the RIG MOM. It’s a diaper bag backpack that meets the needs of active moms everywhere regardless of where their daily activities take them.
Both spotlights will run for the month of March and dig much deeper than a traditional gear review. Of course, reviews are valuable information for would-be consumers so we will also include our daisy chain version of the reviews for each product.
The format for each brand spotlight will include the following posts and reviews covering as much of the brand and product story as possible:
- 2 feature stories that explore the genesis of the product as well as the characteristics that make it stand out from other similar products
- Daisy chain reviews that provide readers a more complete look at the product in a series of use cases painting the picture for a broader base of consumers
- Giveaways for each brand spotlight will close out the month and give a few lucky readers a chance to get these unique products in there hands quickly
For brands, these spotlights help to foster a more sustained conversation about their products giving our readers a chance to really learn about it before they consider a purchase. The conversation over the course of the month will also reach many more readers than a typical one-off review would.
