Bottle Bright by Clean Ethics cleans drinking vessels of all shapes and sizes.

Simply fill the bladder, or other vessel, with warm water and drop in one of the effervescent tablets.  Wait 5-10 mins, emtpy it out, and rinse thoroughly.  The instructions on the tube packaging suggests that you allow it to work longer for really stubborn stains but 10 minutes seemed to work fine in all of my tests.

I even forgot about one of the travel coffee mugs and allowed it to soak for the entire night.  I rinsed it out in the morning and found a crystal clean surface with no residual stains or smell.

I tested a half dozen vessels

There are 6 drinking vessels that I use regularly: Geigerrig Hydration Bladder, Sheetz Travel Coffee Mug, Mr Coffee pot, backcountry flask, and a rotation of stainless steel and BPA free water bottles.

Each of these present their own unique cleaning challenges.  Anything with a threaded cap is a pain to clean really well.  Bladders, even the Geigerrig which can be turned inside out, is a pain for me.  I have enormous hands.

And anyone that’s tried to clean a flask knows what a challenge that can be.

So I set out to test not just how well Bottle Bright worked against the stains and funk that seems to plague every drinking vessel I own but also to determine if it made the cleaning process easier.

The results of my cleaning tests

I tested the Bottle Bright tablets with each of my 6 containers producing the same results each time.

• There were no legacy stains or odors from the heavy usage that each vessel had accumulated over the last few months.
• And even more impressive is that the tablets made cleaning threaded bottles, the backcountry flask, and the hydration bladders a breeze.

It was easy to draw warm water, drop in a tablet, and forget about it for awhile.  Then I  just emptied the vessel and gave it a rinse.  It’s was as easy as that.

Helpful Hints:

• For the flask, I simply crushed the tablet so that I could push it through the small opening.  You could also just dissolve it in a cup first and then pour it into the flask.
• For the hydration bladder, be sure not to tighten the cap on it or use the slide bar to seal it.  A little pressure will build inside so you want to give the bladder a chance to vent that to avoid any surprises.
